So the author likes NYC for the type of vibe that existed in the West Village when she was 13. We can make an educated guess that this was at least a decade ago, given that the author has been living independently for some time.

That vibe is mostly gone by now. It's been replaced by a vibe which is bland, insular, conformist and almost suburban.

The ironic part is that the tolerant, diverse, funky old school NYC vibe that the author seeks is nowadays more easily found in Philly than in NYC.

Do you need facts? I’m a single female in my early 40s.

More like close to three decades ago. ...

@TomJones123: I tried to go to Why I hate Philly to see what it was all about and get this kind of background information, but it's now returning an error message. The error message is actually quite rude.

She also said she's a tree hugger. No point of reading after I read that. She needs to go to bankrupt California and enjoy it with the rest of the hippy doushbags.

I admit it, I’ve hugged trees in my life. Actually embraced them. Does that make me insane? Perhaps. Not necessarily.
Sometimes I feel an overhwleming gratitude and appreciation for nature with all it’s beauty and have expressed it by hugging trees, carressing flowers, running my hand through dewy grass.
Sounds like she gets hot and heavy with nature, tree hugging is just foreplay to this lovely, little petunia.
