Are there any other "quaint" upperclass or uppermiddle class areas like North Wales, PA say all within 25-30 miles driving distance of center city, philadelphia? I personally checked it out and hear that the "East Village apartments" cost $1179 or $1195 at most for 2 bedroom with 2 bathrooms (im referring to apartments not townhome or select furnished place). And this includes 2 tennis courts, pool, and a couple other things. Are there any other quaint places like this near philly but it has to be 25-30 miles within center city philadelphia? This is a good area for me because it is within 6-8 miles or so from a Penn State university campus-penn state abington.

nice area but it most certainly not within 6-8 miles of PSU Abington.. More like 10-16 miles and 35 minutes one way.. But doable.. but to CC philly you are 25-30 miles and 45 minutes without traffic. If you desire to be closer to both look at Jenkintown.. A lot closer to both

Jenkintown Borough

The Plaza rental apartments in Jenkintown are very upscale. 10 miles north of city hall on Rt611 in Abington Township. Another upscale place is Meadowbrook apartments on Huntington Pike in Huntington Valley (also Abington Township) I'm not sure you could call either place "quaint" but they are certainly "posh". Obviously Penn state Abington is just up the road.
North Wales is pretty deep into the suburban sprawl with no easy way to get there. Although Abington is very close to the city it is very insulated from the city's "unpleasant" features.

Besides North wales, check out Glenside (Springfield/Abington/Cheltenham), Wyndmoor (Springfield) Flourtown (Springfield/Whitemarsh), Wyncote (Cheltenham) and Jenkintown (the Borough). These areas are all very charming, and feature varying mixtures of a suburbia/small town feel. They are also much more convenient to PSU-Abington.

There are a ton of Upper Class areas all throughout the metro that will offer a quaint quiet charming experience from the neighborhood cities of Society Hill, Rittenhouse Square, Fitler Square and Chestnut Hill to places in the suburbs like The Main Line (Ardmore, Villanova, etc.)

Philadelphia Main Line - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Other affluent areas that are charming and quaint and quiet are Newtown, Doyelstown, Jenkintown/Abbington, West Chester, Yardley/Lower Makefield, Media (sort of affluent) New Hope (kind of far from the city).

Chestnut Hill to Abington wouldn't make for a bad commute. The Center City areas wouldn't be terrible either, as you'd be reverse-commuting for most of the way. The Western suburbs (including the Main Line and Media) would be just awful, however. There's just no easy way of getting there.

Yardley/Lower Makefield are more doable. New Hope is further removed, but unlike the Western suburbs, getting to Abington from there is fairly straightforward.

I would agree with Frank's suggestion of Jenkintown while also adding Glenside. The latter is more likely to have 2BRs in your preferred range. From either one, you'd be be within 10-15 minutes of PSU Abington.
