Smile moving to KOP for work, where shall I live?

Hi I am moving to a new job in King of Prussia. I love to bike ,run, swim, do thriathlons, & cross country ski if there is snow. I am NOT a mall person. I am over 40 but single and would love a few recommendations as to where to live. I need somewhere where I can run & ride from home but hopefully where I can join a running & cycling club too. I used to live in Princeton & loved the fact that I could walk to dinner but cycle 100 miles from the driveway. Thank you! PS Ido not like long commutes.

I would look North to Phoenixville or maybe Collegeville. Collegeville has a small downtown and a great rail trail Collegeville Trails & Trail Maps | Collegeville, Pennsylvania | TrailLink.com It's also home to Ursinus College, which gives it a nice vibe.

Here's a running club - http://valleyforgestriders.com/

Yes, I'll second those 2 towns (Collegeville and Phoenixville). To add more locations, you might want to consider Oaks, which will put you 5-15 minutes closer to KOP than the other 2 towns (since you say you don't like long commutes) C-Ville or P-Ville to KOP is about 20-35 minutes most days. Oaks is part of Upper Providence Township.

P-Ville has more night life (bars, restaurants) than C-Ville but you didn't mention night life so it may not matter to you.

Also, the tiny sky resort Spring Mountain - Skiing | Snowboarding | Zipline | Canopy Tours | Rock Climbing | Geocaching is near to Collegeville. Also, right outside P-Ville and C-Ville there's an ability to do canoeing and kayaking and tubing in the Schuylkill River. Check out http://www.fitzwaterstation.com/. Though the Route 422 corridor is known for traffic backups and suburban sprawl, there's plenty of nice little towns in the area, and a fair amount of outdoor activities.

You can basically take the Perkiomen Trail from the area west toward Green Lane (at least 10 miles) and east to the Schuylkill River Trail and into Norristown, Conshohocken, Manayunk, and straight into the city.

what about conshohocken area, or lafayette hill? It puts you right next to the city and yet it's a safe area...plus it's a hop skip and a jump away from the starting point of the Wissahickon Valley trail (Valley Green)...having lived most of my life in NW Philly and Cheltenham, I would personally rather live closer than farther. check it all out on a map...it'll give you a good idea. Phoenixville and Collegeville are out further from the city than KOP and thus traffic coming in that way is bad. if you aren't as concerned about schools you could look in the norristown area, roxborough, or even the Mt. Airy/Chestnut Hill area. All of these places are inner burbs and will give you a 20-30 min commute to KOP, and they're close to Wissahickon Park/Valley Green (if you are living in roxborough you could even ride your bike down the park). Of course, if you have more of an exurban mentality, then don't follow my suggestions.

my mistake...Roxborough and Mt Airy are both technically in the city, they are outer nicer neighborhoods though, than the inner city areas. I recommend both.

I want to stress that all of the neighborhoods I listed are close to Valley Green/Wiss. Park, it is really a great place to go biking or to chill down by the creek...I see weddings all the time down by the inn on the trail. Nice area

I am guessing you are looking for a rental apartment and there are several nice communities right in King Of Prussia. (Montgomery County) It is as good as a place as any to live. Try Philadelphia PA Apartments for Rent | Philadelphia Apartments | Philadelphia Rentals

Conshohocken might work for you; it's on the Schuylkill River trail -- where you can bike either into the city or out almost to Pottstown, and connect with a bunch of other trails -- and is a short hop to King of Prussia. Plenty of rentals there close to downtown.

Also look into Narberth and the Ardmore/Bryn Mawr sections of Lower Merion.
