At around $2000+ / year for a membership, it better be inside the Laurel Tower.

Not everyone can justify spending that on a gym, but you'd be surprised how many people would, and yes they are very nice, and the Laurel is probably the best spot for one.

Interesting news: Free WiFi kiosks in NYC coming to Philly with cameras, critics and lessons learned

Never noticed these in NYC but maybe I wasn’t looking.

Spent the weekend in NYC and they’re everywhere but I remain skeptical of free WiFi (hacking) and have unlimited data so I rarely use it in public.

Going up next month. Will keep an eye out for them. I don’t have a problem with public WiFi for most sites but stay off of sites requiring passwords. I could see a citywide system being more prone to hacking than that of a weekend b&b.

Those are the machines that homeless people used to watch porn on lol. They usually replace phone booths with these so they don't stand out. Hope you had fun in New York!

Hi Cpomp. If this was meant for me, I did! Had brunch at The Smith in the Village on Sunday and then went to the Strand.

None of your data is safe. Seriously ... people need to understand that and keep it mind. Doing network "security", which
I have done, is a nightmare. Tending to firewalls and yelling at various dbas to apply patches was like pulling my hair out one strand at a time. You spend a big chunk of your time thinking about how to limit bot attack. Ewww.

Anyhow as a tool I like these.

I literally despise you wrt the Strand!!!!! Just kidding... Lol.

I suppose you have not discovered Book Trader, Book Corner, House of Our Own or Last Word. The last two are in University City near your immediate ' hood. Check out Joseph Fox and Giovanni's Room in CC. Both are among the remaining independents her for new books. Giovanni's Room is the only lgbtq bookstore left in the country, afaik. There are none in NYC anymore, afaik.

Phila. Free Library also has a used bookstore on N. 20th next to the main library branch. That reminds me, join the Free Library. You have a good branch right near you at 40th and Walnut.

Thank you for these! I have not discovered them and will definitely check them out. I did visit that Free Library branch btw, but haven't joined yet.
