Not sure. I am from Bucks County and now live in the city. I don't know the other counties well enough

Depending on what you want in a house, you could fine a home for 300k in almost any town or borough in Delaware, Montgomery, or Chester county, however certain towns will buy you a lot more. Do you have specifics that would help narrow it down.

Willow Grove in Upper Dublin township and also in Abington township plus Abington itself and Roslyn in Abington. Look in zips 19001 and 19090. Many houses in your price range, excellent schools, great shopping close to Center City with great Septa service as well. Housing stock will be older but easy to update if it hasn't been yet. Put those zips into www.trulia.com

In Montgomery County, could also look at downtown areas such as Ambler, Hatboro, and Lansdale. Towns tend to have smaller homes on smaller lots, so lower cost. All have great schools.

The following come immediately to mind:

Cherry Hill, Voorhees, Evesham (Marlton), or Mt. Laurel in New Jersey, among many others.

Abington in Montgomery County.

Haverford, Marple, or Springfield in Delaware County.

Depends on what type of home you are looking for.
I would highly recommend Upper Dublin Township. One of the best schools in Montgomery County (I may be biased because I graduated from there.) They recently renovated the entire school. The school is smaller in size in comparison to North Penn, not sure about Abington or Wissahickon, might be similar in size.

My parents own two townhouses in Ambler (more Maple Glen-ish), very safe, close proximity to Ambler Train Station. Downtown Ambler is right there with few cute restaurants. Close to 309/Turnpike, 10-15 minutes to shopping centers, etc. I think out of similar areas such as Abington, Blue Bell, Lansdale, etc it's more convenient to travel to Center City from UD/Ambler.

When i had to live there for 2 months I commuted to Center City for work via Septa. Easiest commute ever. Driving actually wasn't that bad either. If i had a family Upper Dublin Twp would be one of my first choices.
