I like Philly, but the taxes and out of control car insurance simply weren't worth it. Moving out of Philly was a great decision. It was like getting a $4-6k raise per year.

Philly car insurance is absolutley absurd.

As you said, SEPA subsidizes a lot in the rest of the state so no one should be complaining about SEPTA . . . and it's not like if you just got ride of SEPTA that would be the end of it. It would cost the state billions to build enough roads and highways to keep up with the loss of SEPTA.
actually, buses need plenty of operating subsidies while regional rail needs capital. suburbs pay the majority of SEPA taxes on the whole so maybe they do pay their "fair share"

City riders outnumber suburban riders 8:1. Operating subsidies for the City Transit Division are just over $450 million. Victory, Frontier & RR are around $210 million - so, sure, city riders are getting more $subsidies but mostly because there are 8x as many riders.

Now, there are 2.5 million people in the suburban counties and 1.5 million in the city and a majority of the jobs/employers in the PA counties are in the suburbs so it would make sense that more revenue is coming from the 'burbs.
