Indeed! I found out where the SEPTA headquarters was when I noticed a woman who lives in my building wearing a badge that said "1234 Market Street". That is an address one never forgets.

5th street is easy access for a lot of tourists going to see the historical things Independence Mall/National Historical Park. Good to have it, in my opinion. I think the stops are pretty fine as they are now, in terms of Market-Frankford.

I agree, 11th to 2nd street is a 10 min walk

That's a silly reason, but you knew that.
If that's the case, how about they just keep "their" pedestrian concourse and trolley stop, and walk that whole one block in underground luxury right to their building entrance (or just take the trolley if that's too strenuous), instead of wasting money staffing and maintaining a totally superfluous station that adds time to everyone's MFL ride, while begging for funding for "their" transit agency?

So no connection to PATCO at 8th? No stop at Independence Mall and the governmental offices there? No free interchange and connection with the subway surface lines at 13th?

You get that at 15th. But I agree that 5th and 8th are necessary.

I could see that perhaps during off-hours. Otherwise, I think those stations would be (even more) jam-packed with people coming up and down the stairs during rush hour.

Off-topic but not worth starting a new thread: I want to see the underground passageways in CC turned into a legitimate underground city, a la Montreal. That would be awesome.
