I've read so many threads, but haven't found any info to solve my problem. We may be relocating to the Media area. We are considering Chester and Delaware Counties. Hearing so much about the great schools, which is SO important to us, but we also need some diversity as well. I don't want my African -American kids to be the only ones in the school!! Looking for 5-10% African American. That's what we are used to in Mt. Laurel - South Jersey suburb. Looking to spend between $400,000-$500,000 on a single family home in a town with strong schools and some African Americans. Any ideas?

This may help. It says that as of 2000 14.2 of the population in Media was African American.

According to Schools, High School, Public Schools, School District, Public High Schools - SchoolMatters, there are 6.6% African American students in Rose-Tree Media School District. Sounds like it's on the low end but in the ballpark that you might be comfortable with. You can check out the other districts on this site too. For demographics just hit the demographics and it will tell you the racial (school enviorment) and economic diversity under community demographics.

Media calls itself "America's Town" or "Everybody's Hometown" or something like that.

Have you driven around Media? You will not be the only African-Americans there.

By the way, racial makeup aside, it's a great little town.
