I really don't know why I'm asking this. Been to philly many times (love the city) and have been to about half the ballparks wearing Royals jerseys with no problem.

But Philly just has a reputation for be downright mean (if not violent) to visiting fans and I don't want my kids to have a terrible time.

We are heading up to Philly for the KC game tonight and thought I would ask if it's safe to be visible royals fans. I know the Royals are not exactly a rival of philly and their fans will probably make fun more than be mean. (I'm fine with the "go back to Kansas" heckling haha) But we just enjoy going to games in other parks and hopefully their fans don't ruin the evening for my kids. Most fans in other parks are great, but Philly actually concerns me some.

So is this overblown? Are the fans in Philly (at least for baseball) respectable?

Thanks!

i would say so...just don't be obnoxious. It's not like the Vet...

And the Phils are going to suck this year...I think the anger will be pointed at our own players and RAJ, not the opposing fans from KC that we say once every decade or so.

Yea, we are always really cool to the fans in the home park. We will even acknowledge good plays etc by the home team and the fans will often just ask about how we like the stadium, where we are from etc or we just talk baseball. I pretty much expect the same from Philly, but the city does have a reputation .

in regarda to football its not overblown though its also not unique to philly...washington and ny are also terrible. la is perhaps the most notorious baseball stadium for visiting fans.
with regards to philly, where will you be sitting? upper deck heckling tends to be worse. if its dollar dog night its full of idiots. generally its fine, expect to be heckled but nothing terrible. remember philly fans boo like new yorkers honk their horns.

You seem like a real baseball fan so you'll definitely find other respectful real fans. And especially being a Royals fan you should have no problems .

Haha I love our reputation, but no I'm sure you'll be fine. If it was a Flyers game on the other hand, that could be rough.

The Royals lost in '80, so it shouldn't be a hassle. As an experiment, perhaps you could waltz around with a Blue Jays jersey with Carter written on the back, and chant "'93! '93!"

Why were the Royals playing the Eagles last night anyway?

This might be one of those years where all 5 of Philly's major league teams have losing records and don't make the playoffs.
