Fairhill (Front and Clearfield):
Man, 34, fatally shot in Fairhill
2:15 in the afternoon ... Hope it wasn't an honest working guy, but knowing that area, more than likely it was drug-related.

53 years old and still messing with the drugs (that's what the initial report said) ... another neighborhood in decline.

This is usually a safe, quiet neighborhood. Shootings are not the norm.

Wow ... twenty shots fired on a residential street.
The apartments right in that area of Fox Chase have been bad for years. Drugs etc. Other then that it is a good neighborhood. When I think of crime in Fox Chase the first thing that always comes to mind was the young boy that was beat to death (with baseball bats) by a gang of teens right in front of St Cecilia's Catholic Church some years back. Horrible horrible incident.

Good for the shop owner! Hard to feel any sympathy for this 16 year old 'suspect.'

I remember that - Eddie Polec - who was beaten to death by a pack of wannabe street thugs from Elkins Park.
The apartments you mentioned no doubt must be where the government houses the Section 8 recipients.

I, for one, am shocked! Arson ...

Kensington (2nd and Jefferson):

Well, isn't this just rich - a 45 tear old loser 'anarchist' from Doylestown coming into Kensington to tear up new homes and nice cars. DOYLESTOWN of all places! I heard the girl is from Fox Chase ... it's all so ironic.
They need to throw the book at these two imbeciles as hard as it can be thrown.

We're talking about this stuff in the gentrification thread, btw.

philly.com said she was from Rhawnhurst. The first reports said it happened in NoLib which it did not....needlessly scaring people.

So brazen ... I'd still like to try the food there, but I'll go to the one in Juniata. Has anybody tried this place?
