I work at the Philadelphia Navy Yard and am moving to Media, PA. What can you tell me about the rush hour commute? How long will it take in the morning and at night? Can I avoid bad traffic by leaving early and what time would I have to leave? Could I avoid it at night as well? Thank you!

I don't think the traffic is bad if your driving from Media to the Navy Yard. It's not like you're driving to Center City.

if you are going to take I-95 expect a traffic backup both ways at the blue route/ridley exit where it goes from four lanes into two lanes both north and south bound. if you are traveling between 7:30 and 9:30am of between 4:30 and 6:30 at night. I would leave media no later than 6:15am and the navy yard no earlier than 6pm for the ride home. I am from Aston and this is just MHO after living here for 40 plus years and driving into the city during rushhour. on the bright side its no were near as bad as taking the blue route/476 to I-76. If you want go to local news (abc/nbc/fox/cbs) websites and they actually post travel times and traffic speeds during rush hour I know that nbc 10 does on their live broadcast in the morning with a cute traffic reporter

I would probably take 252 to Bullens Lane, southeast to Industrial Highway, and then right up past the airport to the 26th St Navy Yard entrance. Why bother with 95? Industrial Highway is way unterutilized and thus fairly empty -- partly because it goes through Philly's industrial underbelly (but I've never felt unsafe in this area).

How has your commute been? My wife and I are thinking about moving out of the city to Media. But we're not sure if we could handle the 1hr commutes on 95
