It's getting to the point that University City is becoming almost a sub-downtown. Effectively, our active, vital urban core has doubled since I moved here. (If other areas are included, you could make an argument that it's more than tripled).
With it's proximity to 30th station it deserves to be it's own city. Hell they should cap some of the river around 30th and build on it.

Another one of Drexel's plans is to demolish the James E. Marks Intercultural Center (a nondescript 2 story building) on 33rd and Chestnut and build a hotel there. According to The Triangle, the Drexel student newspaper, the Drexel board has approved the hotel project and is close to selecting a builder and an operator of the hotel.

This is one of my biggest hopes for the city. Those railyards are so ugly and take up so much space that could be put to good use. I mean even if it weren't buildings build on the yard, I would love to see SOMETHING done as a cap. A large park for Drexel students and nearby residents would be great even.
