NYC is unquestionably the largest media market in the country with 7.4 million households (6.4 million using wired cable). When network television was guaranteed to make a profit, you wouldn't consider being anywhere else.

But that happy state is now gone. Networks are struggling to break even with costs over 95% of revenue. With total costs over $8 billion a year, the cost of the new COMCAST skyscraper of $1.25 billion seems relatively small by comparison.

The reality is that people are not going to produce television in Wichita, but Philadelphia is still a 72 minute train ride away.
