Me and my friends basically ran to Rita's the other day for free Water Ice. Thank God we got there before the other kids from the High School down the street could. No long line, no waits!

I do think waiting behind 70+ people is pretty dumb. I'd rather go to a Gelato place and pay $2 bucks for that instead of waiting for an hour and a half. It seems to me as if Americans would wait a life time if something was free . I think the free water ice is great PR for Rita's.

To answer your question, it's been closed for a while. I can't recall a time I saw it open in the last 2 years, although I rarely get off at City Hall because of "da stench" unless I'm going to West Philly.

I e-mailed Rita's asking about the 15th and Spruce location and received this reply:

Thank you for your recent inquiry about Rita’s. We appreciate the time you took
to reach out to us and want you to know that your feedback is very important to
our company.

The 15th and Spruce Rita's was vandalized and had to close for repairs.
Unfortunately insurance companies are not known for their speedy turnaround time
and that is what is holding up the store from opening.

Rita's is a franchise company with more than 600 stores in 21 states. It is our
pleasure to serve you and we look forward to seeing you at Rita’s again soon.

Thank you,

Rita’s Guest Services Team
