Live in South Philly, I've got a cable that goes from a pole and attaches to my home(my neighbor has one too), there's a lot of cables that go to most if not all homes, it appears. This is in the back yard area.

It's not my comcast line, telly, or power line. I'm gonna roll it back and tether it to the pole but just curious what it was/is. It interferes with ladder clearance for roof access. Free OTA TV? Old cable provider infrastructure? Haven't got up close enough to the end but may be coax. Anyone around long enough to see these work? Just curious about them.

And, it doesn't even go into my home or to my telephone land line box so I won't lose anything I currently have if I roll it back. Its just cut and tacked to my wall.

Thanks

Screw that. If it's before your demarc (and it must be, because whatever demarc you had is gone), it's the current infrastructure owner's problem. Figure out who owns the poll and give them a hard time.

I've got a mystery cable too, but I'm out in the burbs. It came down in a storm -- not cable or electric. Might be a phone line (I don't have a land-line), but there's another cable going to an Ma Bell box on the the garage.

My guess is it's an old cable or phone line.
