Hello! My husband and I are moving to Philly from Raleigh and need some pointers on where to live. We are originally from Orlando and have only been in Raleigh about a year and a half, but we love it here. We live on Glenwood Ave (for those Raleigh natives here) right downtown and can walk/bike to tons of bars, restaurants and fun venues. It's a fun, small downtown that's really safe and clean. We are looking to purchase a home in Philly (town/row home) for anywhere between $150-$300, based on what we have to do to it. We would like to be walking distance to restaurants, bars, coffee shops, but want to be in a safe area. We are white, 28 and married with no kids planned in the near future. Is this possible in Philly?

The last place I lived was in Orlando. Exactly how much space do you need / want? Where will you be working? Do you need to keep a car?

We want at least 1200 sq ft, 2bd. I'm fully remote and will be working from home, my husband will be working at Temple. We would like to keep one car, but if it's not necessary I'm fine with selling it! Thanks!

I do not want to be in a high rise for sure; we have two small dogs and it's gets old taking them out having to use an elevator. I can deal with a couple stories, but we have lived on the 6th floor for over a year with them and I'm sick of it!

It is very much possible to get a nice townhouse in a safe, active area of the city near bars and restaurants. Not in Center City proper, though. You should plan to spend near the upper end of your budget.

Try Manayunk. It is an affordable area with an easy commute to temple both by car and by regional rail. It also has a strip of bars and restaurants on main St. which may be comparable if not more exciting than the area that you described in your post.

Seems that nolibs, fishtown, fairmount, and south philly have some choices. Manayunk can get you want you want near the lower end and then the regional rail stops at temple.

Try East Passyunk in South Philly. You can get a nice row for about 250k. There is a facebook page you can follow https://www.facebook.com/east.p.avenue?fref=ts

Lots of restaurants, shops, both traditional italian restaurants, bakeries, deli's as well as mainstream restaurants, bars, and coffee shops. Very low crime rate.

here are a few
