I think it's a good 2nd or 3rd tier tech market. It's definitely not a first tier tech market like Silicon Valley, Seattle, Denver, or Austin. It's more like NC, Atlanta, Dallas, or Houston's tech market. From what I understand, many Philly IT jobs are concentrated in the suburbs.

This is true. However don't discount eds and meds regarding IT employment. My entire IT career(I'm retired now) was in educational institutions.

Philly has a good to great IT market but isnt San Jose or DC.
Like the poster said about hospitals,government and education institutions are your best bet since those are the major employers in Philly. COMCAST they are a tech giant in this area.
