Default Mainline School Districts

I am looking for a school district on the Mainline that has a bilingual immersion program. Where we lived in Anchorage, Alaska there was an elementary school that has a Spanish immersion program where they teach the kids in English for the first half of the day and then Spanish for the second half. This was not ESL. It was to teach English speaking kids to be bilingual. This was also a public school.

This might be hard to find in PA but I'd like to find a public school that has some kind of language immersion program for my daughter when she starts elementary. It doesn't have to be Spanish. It can be French or whatever. I would just like for her to learn another language and be fluent. Does anyone know where I can find this? We are possibly looking into moving to Ardmore or one of the Mainline towns.

Tredyffrin-Easttown? SD
Lower Merion SD
Haverford SD

Other Good Districts: Great Valley SD

Other side of Delco: Rose Tree Media SD

Southern Lehigh is one hour north of Philadelphia. We have just one elementary school that does immersion and it's pretty popular but not worth moving for.

In the town of Bala Cynwyd is the French International School. It is (obviously) French and total immersion.
Lower Merion does not do immersion but teaches foreign languages starting in 1st grade with the goal that the children are fluent by the time they get to high school. Half of the district learns French and others learn Spanish, it varies by elementary school. I do not know about all school but Cynwyd Elementary is French and Merion Elementry is Spanish.

Tredyffrin/Eastown begin Spanish in 1st grade. In 7th grade they can continue in Spanish or begin another language. Because they are familar with Spanish, the kids have been exceling in all of the laguages. By the time the kids enter high school they are begining Spanish III, or French 3 or Latin, or German 3. They can continue for another 4 years. It's a great program.
