How about asking another question, that might be related: why is the United States the lone wolf psycho mass killer capital of the world?

Default HitchBOT's Journey Ends in Philly -- I'm really saddened by this

This robot had traveled across Canada and parts of Europe...and was on a trip across country. Kids around the world had followed its journey.

As a Philadelphian, I'm saddened. WHY didn't it have to be in Philly where this happened?
No doubt this will add to our reputation as a place where sports fans throw snowballs at Santa Claus.
---------------

From Philly.com:

HitchBOT has traveled Canada and Germany, but Philadelphia proved to be its toughest challenge.
The hitchhiking robot from Port Credit, Ontario, was vandalized Friday night in Philadelphia.

Per hitchbot.me:

hitchBOT’s trip came to an end last night in Philadelphia after having spent a little over two weeks hitchhiking and visiting sites in Boston, Salem, Gloucester, Marblehead, and New York City. Unfortunately, hitchBOT was vandalized overnight in Philadelphia; sometimes bad things happen to good robots. We know that many of hitchBOT’s fans will be disappointed, but we want them to be assured that this great experiment is not over. For now we will focus on the question “what can be learned from this?” and explore future adventures for robots and humans.

The news of the vandalism brought the usual Twitter attention.

Because of our insatiable appetite for drugs, legal and illegal.

Now is the chance for a science group from Masterman or Drexel or something like that to fix it.

It happened on Elfreths Alley too I believe, not where you would expect it to happen.

Believe it or not, something as silly as this actually tarnishes Phillys image more than you think.

I was actually referring to the frequently lone killer maniacs who have gone to movie theaters, one church in particular, one elementary school, one high school(two killers), a public street meeting of a former Congresswoman in Tucson, AZ, etc.

Yeah, unfortunately it does. But how do we know it wasn't some dumb$$$ tourist from Nebraska since it was in a high tourist area? How do we even know it was a local?
