I know that Broad St. and the surrounding area is the place to go for Broadway shows. I'm not sure how to seek out good deals though. Any tips would be helpful. I'm looking to take older people to a show Mar 5. It would have to be walking distance from City Hall basically. Please help if you can. Thank you!

They mostly happen at the Academy of Music. But you are out of luck because the PA Ballet will be performing at the Academy on 3/5. The next broadway show isn't scheduled to start until 3/15.

There's a lot more theatre than the Academy of Music within walking distance of City Hall, including the Forrest, the Walnut, the Merriam, the Suzanne Roberts and several smaller venues, including the Prince, the Wilma, etc..

Forgot about the Prince and the Wilma. Didn't know about Suzanne Roberts. Didn't get those hits when I googled stuff, and nor did a friend who helped me search get those hits either. Thank you!

Feel free to mention the smaller venues and what might go after "etc." too. Only smaller venue in walking distance I ran into offhand was The Drake.

Nothing has been scheduled at the Forrest for ages. No reason to even mention it.

The Prince is in transition. Afaik, the Phila. Film Society either bought it out right or is managing it now.
There's also the Arden on N. 2nd St in Old City. The Suzanne Roberts may still be in a dicey financial situation. I haven't followed their ordeal lately. It's the current home of the Phila. Theater Company.

Also there's the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts on Penn's campus at 37th and Walnut. Just google it.
