Mt. Laurel - definitely. Essington - not so much.

I agree that Mt. Laurel would be a nicer place to live than Mt. Laurel although that would be an unusual commute for a student going to Drexel or Temple.

Then again, I once read a story about Vernon Hill, the former CEO of Commerce Bank here, who was so accustomed to suburban surrounding that when he went to college at Penn, he commuted from New Jersey.

Actually, the commute from Mt. Laurel to Temple or Drexel is not bad. You would just take the hi-speed line from Woodcrest. It will add about 20 minutes to traveling time. For Drexel, you'd get off at 8th and Market and switch to the Market-Frankford El and for Temple, you'd get off at 15th and switch to the Broad Street subway. Coming from Jersey is easier than from some suburbs.

You're absolutely right, newmarlig. Commuting from Mt. Laurel by transit (even sometimes by car) into town is fairly convenient. My point was just that it would seem unusual to me for a single twentysomething person, as I presume the OP to be, to choose a "bucolic" town of that distance.

Tone - I totally agree with you about a single person choosing Mt. Laurel. I was just responding from the transportation aspect and getting to school. Then again, there are some single college-aged people, who just like the burbs.

Oh. I didn't know where Mt. Laurel is. I looked it up just now. Way too suburban for me. Center City areas are the only places I'll consider then.

snugglymug is on a distinguished road
so it would be okay to film stuff right? ( i meant downtown )-- it'd be safe and everything? more importantly, am i allowed to film in that area without a permit or anything?

becaaaaaaauseee-- has anyone heard about like colbert/stewart indecision2008 virtual podium contest thingy? i saw some flyers randomly on campus on monday and was wondering if it's legit -- the website is, but is anyone else entering?

not that i want competition or anything but there's like 20 entries and like 10 flyaway trips to NY.. the chances are pretty damn good (big apple, here i come!)

OK so here are my ideas, cuz i freakin need votes to win so it has to be decent. basically the contest is asking me to state my political platform in a short video-- it can be funny or whatever:

1. the US military should no longer use guns and bombs. instead, we should resort to the eastern approach and train our soldiers to be NINJAS. id be throwing around ninja stars. YEAH!

2. something about public transportation and vegetable oil and the environment, but i'd make it sarcastic and really funny. i'm still working on this idea

3. the right to bare arms-- id just use a sock puppet and roll it up while i was talking. peep show! jk.

okay, so LET ME KNOW what you think would be cool. friends have been saying number 1 but i want more opinions.

annnnnnnnnnnnddd teh officiale text:

i just hope that i can film in that area. let me know??
