This is historic. For as long as I have known the mall, Penney has been part of it. It's loss literally leaves a huge hole in the mall. I don't know who they are going to fill it. Maybe Boscov's?

I think KoP has become more and more upper middle and upper class type of mall.
I do not think Boscov will replace JcP.
Saks Fifth Ave perhaps? Since it is the only upper middle / upper class dept. store it does not have.
Or maybe Bergdorf Goodman? LOL

Agreed. We've been going to the mall for 30 years. It has now become a boutique mall, full of stores you can't even tell what they sell. There are hardly any stores left that I can shop. Macys is the only one left.

I have absolutely zero concern with JC Penney being replaced in KOP. I think it's some of the other malls in the area we have to worry about losing JC Penney.

In KOP, they should move Macy's to where JC Penney is now, and shoot for Bergdorf Goodman, or Saks Fifth Avenue in the current Macy's space.

The "Retail" thread on this board has discussed how the mall has changed, and will continue to change, going forward for quite some time now. There are lots of posts about it. Simon is determined to turn it into a fairly upscale shopping destination.

Penny's is dying overall so is Macy's. Macy's is closing in the Plymouth Meeting Mall. So far, probably, the only profitable Macy 's store on the area is the one in the Wanamaker Bldg in Center City.

Boscov's probably couldn't afford to go there anyhow.

There's never been a Bergdorf's in the area, afaik. What a coup that would be! Or a full-fledged Barney's.

The Barney's in Center City is now "technically" a full fledged Barney's, but it is not very large. A Barney's or a Bergdorf's I think would do very well at KOP.

Well...okay about the CC Barney's if they say so.

Bergdorf's! Oh, man....that would be a dream.
