I think "sprinkles" is used most other places. My friends have always teased me about "jimmies" and try to get me to say "sprinkles" (they're all from VA, MD, NY, CT, NC, MS, IN, OH, TX, KS, CA, AZ, IL, among others).

I've always said Jimmies instead of Sprinkles; grew up in S. Jersey and now live just north of Philly. Everyone around here says Jimmies too, unless they're from someplace else.

I know in NYC they say sprinkles too...apparently we're caught in a language warp here. I did forget about chumpy, as in "give me that (noun) chumpy." And how bout Bogart as in "don't Bogart that joint"?

I remember chumpy- that's from when I was a young bul. Remember the chips "Chumpies" with your Frank's Soda? LOL
And I think Bogart evolved to Brodie- the equivalent to taking over something.

Disrespect? Really? I've never known that to be true. Calling someone your young bul is a sign of respect, at least how I've known/seen it.

It's disrespectul if you call someone your age or older young-bul, or if someone implies that you have been young-bulled, which means you have been treated like a child.

This is all news to me, because I had black classmates who I was cool with call me their young bul. I doubt they meant it disrespectfully...

Well you are either younger than them, or they have some kind of experience/advantage over you, or you just want to be accepted. As long as you are okay with it you are fine.
That and black college kids don't represent all experiences of the hood, if they are from the hood. There are a lot of suburban black kids who can talk the slang.
