Hey All,

So I am 17 years old, and will be living in Southern NJ for the summer, around Lindenwold area. I will be having to go to Exton/Downingtown, PA area a number of times, and just want to get familiar with how to go. I have taken SEPTA before but only the Market Frankfort Line through Philadelphia.

So on a map it appears that I will have to take PATCO from Lindenwold to 8th street, and then walk to 11th street and then take the Regional Rail Line to Downingtown. How easy is it to do this? Also how do tickets work? Can I buy tickets at the stations before I go on the trains?

I also would like to know how long I should expect this to take? 80-90 min maybe? Also ho efficient are the trains? I would like to know about both PATCO and Regional Rail Line, do they run on a time schedule or just continuously? Please give me all info I need to know in order to do this trip. I really have no clue how this works and would like to get familiar with everything before I make this trip for the first time.

That is what the transit agency websites are intended to provide:

http://www.ridepatco.org/
SEPTA | Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority

PATCO runs continuously with headways less than 15 minutes unless you are traveling in the middle of the night. For regional rail, you will need to consult a schedule as their service is much more limited and yes, you can buy your ticket at a ticket window at Jefferson Station (10th and Market).

I think you will just need to look at the PATCO and SEPTA schedules on their websites and it should be pretty clear when they run and how long the trip takes – just work backwards from when you need to be in Exton or wherever.

It's easy to do just time consuming. So, make sure you have something to read.

Also, try to time your trains....and it might help to leave a bit early if you will be on time constraints or anything. But PATCO from Lindenwold into Center City is how you will connect ro the Regional Rail. The Paoli/Thorndale Line goes to that area.

Thanks. The first couple times, i might leave as early as 60 min before I need to catch the Regional Rail train, in order to get familiar with the route, and to have enough time to buy tickets before going on the train.
