Looking for an area
Hi All,
I need some advice from all you philly experts.
I just accepted a job in southern jersey right off of the turnpike exit 4. My girl works in the King of Prussia area. We are looking for a good in between place so the commute would be about equal for the both of us. Currently we are living a little south of West Chester and we each will have a 45 minute commute, which is what we are both expecting. But this is only a temporary stay before we go find a place of our own.
I believe we are open to all options, be it North, South, or even in the city, just as long as we have close to the same commute time. We're both very young and just starting out in our careers so an active night life is always a plus, but not a requirement.
I've been advised to steer clear of the walt witman and the ben franklin as they are pretty busy in the morning hours, I will be taking the commodor barry bridge over to the NJ Turnpike to get there in the weeks to come.
Any advice from you folks would be much appreciated.

Don't know where will be better located than where you currently might be..Delaware county near the blue route will be your best bet.
If you go into Center City, your commute might stay about the same(or even be a little shorter), but your GF will find commuting out to K of Prussia on 76W to be a real bear!

Thanks, I have heard that going out toward KoP would be harder for her depending on where we move. From the looks of it we'll probably end up somewhere in Delco.

Walt Whitman and Ben Franklin Bridges usually don't get that bad. You would be doing the reverse commute so you would be fine.
Delco would probably be your best bet. I'd also look into the Willow Grove/Abington area off of the PA Turnpike. Its about 40min from their to Exit 4 in NJ.

I was looking in the willow grove area until the girl said that her commute to KoP would be a little rough from there. Thanks for the advice on that, I'll continue to look up there and see what the traffic would be like for her.

Another idea might be Manayunk. It's close to the Schuylkill Expressway (I-76), so you could each take it in opposite directions, you to center city and the Benjamin Franklin Bridge, and she could take it to KOP. I agree that you will be taking the bridge in a reverse commute so that shouldn't be much of a problem.

The distance from Willow Grove to KoP isn't bad, but if you're on the turnpike during rush hour it can be a nightmare.

Why not just move to West Chester and call it a day? Your current location sounds just about perfect. Any insight to the contrary would help us recommend other places to you...

West Chester to Mt Laurel/Cherry Hill area? That has to take at least an hour. I've done that on a number of occasions. Wasn't fun.

We won't actually be in West Chester, we will be a little south in Garnet Valley/Marcus Hook/Glen Mills area.. don't know what to call it with the recent name change.
The reason we don't want to stay there is that is where her parents are and we don't want to live right down the street from them. But from the looks of things, that area might be the best choice. I've been looking at Aston a lot and that area doesn't seem too bad.
