Philly is far cheaper. You cant find property in New York City under 500k. You can get in to the top end of the Philly Market with that.

As for rent, you can get prime Philly rentals for under 2k, equivalent NYC apartments are pushing 3k or more.

The expense of NYC as opposed to Philly is almost 100% of the reason why NYC has been eliminated from my list of potential relocation cities, and Philly is still on it.

Not that it matters, I grew up near Olney.

Actually, it's not. It's between Dorian, the original poster, and whoever else wants to comment on this board:

If you wanna fight be a good boy and go outside

By the way, I'm not sure how old you are, but have you ever heard the phrase "thou doth protest too much"? You may not be aware of it, but you are.
You made claims about how people from Long Island viewed themselves and New York City. I happend to worked in the area, and your claims were not true. I really don't know how grown men get upset over a message board. I know I don't, and your remark about " if you wanna fight be a good boy and go outside " dosen't apply because I know you never had to or would of stepped outside ever. You sound like your alot younger. My friend from philly comes to New York and he tells me is his own words " New Yorkers are jerks and to cocky I almost fight somebody everytime when I visit New York just walking down the street. " New York has been named the most aggresive city in the U.S. in attitude and driving before. Not that road rage or a bad attitude is a good thing, But New York is still alot better than Philly!!!!!!!!!!!!!#1

I agree New York is crazy with cost of living, but your also paying for surroundings as well. New York is superior to Philly in that aspect. With all of the stores, shops, clubs, and restruants. Your not going to have a better nightlife than in New York , you know they call it "the city that never sleeps" they don't say that for nothing. Philly can't even come close in this aspect, but Manhattan is a more crowded, more traffic, and more dirty than Center City Philly just to be honest.

Manhattan is were everthing is out of controll with high cost of living, and the other bouroughs are not as bad.

There is pleny of people in the Bronx,Harlem,Queens,Brooklyn, Staten Island that are making blue collar livings. I worked in Queens on the border of Long Island the area ( as a Warehouse/Doc worker) I worked in and all of my co-workers were blue-collar and some even worse off. Harlem ( I believe 110th to 165 streets is Harlem ) is in Manhattan and so is Washington Heights, and other areas alot better looking than the 1970's,80's,and early 90's but their is still bad areas with crime and blue collar neighborhoods so not everywhere in Manhattan do you have to be well of to live in.

New York City has over 8 million people ( the entrie population of New Jersey ) not everybody in N.Y.C. can afford parts of Manhattan. Due to New York's superior population the N.Y.C. has the most poor people and blue collar people of any city in the U.S. The % of people mite be higher in other cities, but New York has pleny more than most if not all. They all live and survive, its harder making $13.00 per hour in New York than Philly because in New York the cost of living is more, and in time of reccesion Philly is probably eaiser. However, millions of New Yorkers are not leaving New York maybe some but New York is still over 8 million people.

If you want to live a bluecollar lifestyle you can find that in New York like everthing else. New York has everthing Poor, Blue Collar, Rich people. Thats why New York is better than Philly!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lugger, trust me, as much as Philly likes to compare itself to NYC (both are very similar in respects), it dosen't have anything of an inferiority to NYC, because we can care less about NYC. In any city has an inferiority complex to NYC, just head way up north to Boston!!!

It is all subjective, what city is better, and you really can't scientifically measure, despite stats, etc.. NYC is probably "better" because it is much bigger and has more of everything, the good and the bad. Personally I prefer Philadelphia, it is much more manageable, affordable, and convenient to all the things I enjoy.

I have avoided posting in these thread for awhile now,but it is now at the point of being ridiculous,as far as Philadelphia being compared to Newyork goes who really cares?Maybe people who have relocated from one city to the other or people who visit both often,I don't know but I can tell you this;I'm from Philly born and raised. My family is from here I went to school here I work here and I live here and I have never once in any way shape or form for a second,Had a thought or conversation or argument about N.Y.C being "better" then Philly or vice/versa.I'll go out on a limb and say most people here are probably like me in this regard, and don't give a rats ass about Newyork.
And I'm sure the people of Newyork feel the exact same way about us.
The whole argument is really about opinion any way and is a bit childish, don't ya think.?

I'll tell ya one thing...NYC's school system must be horrendous if it produced lugger's spelling and grammar skills. Everybody knows NYC is a cooler city than Philly.. if just for the reason it's 5 times bigger.
