No problem! Im from Pennsylvania but currently live in Center City Philadelphia, but I know the Southeast PA suburbs well

With the weather tomorrow I would recommend checking out Wayne and Ardmore and if you want something fun indoors there is a Legoland in Plymouth Meeting which is not far from Wayne!

West Chester and Media would probably great to check out on Thursday since they both are very walkable and the weather will be much more pleasant.

The Eagles parade is in the City of Philadelphia Thursday. Over 3 million people are expected to attend. They even closed all schools for the day. So it is good scheduling you will be in the suburbs Thursday

Enjoy! If you have any questions on Southeast PA let me know. I love this region. It is so pretty. I would not stress about schools, etc. We are blessed, it really is a great place to raise a family.

Here is a GREAT resource for suburban moms: The Main Line Today magazine http://www.mainlinetoday.com/

Its obviously Not the season for this area to shine. Think its supposed to snow a little then rain tomorrow. Winter is a bad time to get a feel for this area. The other 3 seasons obviously much different/ better.

That being said I would checkout King of Prussia. The Mall I believe is the biggest shopping mall in the country - High end as well. KOP just built a nice Village Town Center across the road from the Mall.

Valley Forge National Park is right down the road a couple miles from KOP. KOP is very close to Devon by the way.

Newtown Square also just built a new Town Center right on Rt.3. Ridley Creek State Park is very close to Newtown Square. Nice outdoor area to take advantage of - walking, jogging, hiking, horse back riding etc etc..

The small walkable towns of Media,Swarthmore + West Chester are nearby Newtown Square but again this time of year(cold/dreary) you most likely wont get a great impression.

You can always take a tour along the Main Line. Discover some old leafy neighborhoods like Wayne,Radnor, Villanova,Gladwyne,Bryn Mawr,Haverford,Ardmore,Narberth,Wynnewood,Merion.

Thursday they are having the Eagles Parade. Depending on how adventurous you are that may or may not be something you want to be a part of. They are expecting 3 Million people in Center City that day.

Good luck.

Media is a nice little town (very small)but I would emphasize that we are still in the middle of winter and this isnt the time of year that you are going to get wowed by anything.

We really dont have a town like Princeton that is going to shine no matter what the circumstance. Doylestown and Chestnut Hill would probably be the most polished towns/neighborhoods in this region.

Media is going to show well in May + Sept not so much in February.

I have 4 boys, aged 12, 10, and twin 6 year old. We have lived in Charlotte, NC for over 15 years. My husband needs to be in PA full time or we still live in Charlotte and he travels 100%. Which is not ideal!! Soooooo this trip is to get our kids and me on board with moving.

Can anyone recommend places to visit, eat, and see that would make us fall in love with Philly. We are staying in Devon for 2 nights to be close to Newtown Square and then in the City for Friday and Saturday. I would like places that are unique, family oriented, and anything that will make us say yes this is for us!
Definitely check out West Chester. You probably won't have time, but 202 will take you to a very nice shopping area in Delaware, where there is no sales tax. Longwood Gardens is like a cross between going to Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden & the Biltmore. There's a Trader Joe's in that area, in Delaware.

I used to live in South Jersey before moving west of Charlotte & used to make runs to Delaware regularly for shopping. I always used cash. I used to see Pennsylvania police parked in certain shopping centers in Delaware, usually near liquor stores.

What does that have to do with anything?

The OP asked what could be recommended in this area to make this a " Must Move" right now? Its an impossible task right now. Its February in the northeast. There was snow, ice, 3 inches of rain today. Windchill is supposed to be 18 tomorrow.

There is nothing to make anyone want to move here on Feb 7. Come back in the spring, summer, fall. Then we can really help out.

Beautiful! I plan to stay in Center City and take in the sites. Is there a train that goes to the downtown suburbs?

You were the 2nd person to mention the weather. The OP was coming from crappy weather, not Florida.
