Default King of Prussia reccomendations

I'm looking to transfer to King of Prussia from Upstate NY. I grew up in a suburban area in the midwest so I was use to having the conveniences of living near a big city. I am not happy with the sparse upstate NY area being far from everything. I'm a single guy (26) so I don't want to live in the middle of nowhere where I won't meet people or in an area where everyone is married and retired. I'm looking for a place where I have easy access to quick shopping and places to hangout. I don't want to live in a city/urban environment; I'd rather live in a suburb. I'd like to be in an area where there's something to do. At the same time I'd like to beable to have quick access to parks with large open fields. I've also got some friends in NE philly and jersey so maybe a place east or south of King of Prussia would be good. I'd like to keep my commute under 20min, its hard to tell what traffic is like from google maps and such. I hear 76 is horrible. I don't want to take a toll road to work. I'd appreciate any suggestions. I've spent quite a bit of time reading through this forum and have found many good suggestions, but I thought I'd make a post giving more details on the type of area I'm specifically looking for.

Great luxury apts in King of Prussia and Conshohocken. Conshohocken has more night life and young people including college students and closer to the city. King of Prussia has the mall, chain restaurants, more green space and access to the turnpike. Conservative types (accountants) prefer KOP; everybody else prefers Conshy.

Thanks for the advice! My job would be at the lockheed near the mall. Would I take 76 to get there from conshohoken? someone told me once that it gets very busy on that road?

You may want to consider West Chester, its one of the better small towns in metro Phillly 20 minutes from KOP, college town(West Chester State University)and county seat of Chester County so there are lots of young professionals/students/bars/restaurants. Ridley Creek State Park(2500 acres) is 20 minutes to the east lots of open space/parkland. The only problem is that WC is SW of KOP but still only a 45 minute drive to NE Philly or Jersey.

Good luck.

Conshohocken is a good idea and a great little town. There are some simple backroads routes to King of Prussia, so you could easily avoid the freeway if you wanted to (and it just might be preferable to do so! Even though it's not a toll road until you're west of King of Prussia, it's still a mess!).

Good luck!

There are back roads to get there from Conshy but the Schuylkill up that way isn't that bad...going towards the city, now that's miserable.

And West Chester is in no way a 20 minute commute to KOP, which is why I didn't recommend it.

Wrong again hotshot! You are compiling quite the resume of false information.

If you are going to attempt to correct someone know what you are talking about. I make the trip everyday avg. time 20 minutes can be made within 15 minutes with no traffic.

It would seem you are the wrong one yet again. Map programs are notoriously inaccurate vis a vis time to destination...that 22 minutes (note that 22 is greater than 20 to begin with) is closer to 30 minutes in real time, and 202 traffic during the rush hours is a nightmare.

I make the drive everyday its between 15-20 minutes. And Yahoo isnt a $50 B company by giving out notoriously inacccurate information.

You seem to have a problem admitting when you are wrong. You made a bad statement admit it and move on.Just like when you made a foolish incorrect statement saying Brookhaven looked dangerous and urban, I know the town fairly well and its far from either of those classifications. Instead of saying sorry I made a mistake you kept getting more and more defensive digging yiourself a bigger and bigger hole. Just admit you are wrong and be done with it.

Its one thing to give an incorrect statement, mistakes happen, its no big deal. But when you are trying to be a wiseguy proclaiming other peoples correct replies are incorrect thats when I have a problem.

right or wrong I don't care so much if the times are approximate. I listed the time so that your suggestions wouldn't be too far away. I'll go look at those places myself and find out how long it takes me to drive it.

I AM looking for accurate information on which towns match my interests and which don't. I have heard alot of good things about west chester eventhough it is a little further out from philly than I'd like. I'll also check out Conshohocken, I didnt find too many apartments there doing a quick online search though.

Any other suggestions?
