I was curious if that location allows non paying customers to sit in there or has kicked them out before? Not others, but specifically that location or one close to it.

I'm a 26 year old white guy, and I've sat/used the bathroom in numerous Starbucks locations all over the city and others without buying anything. Not once was I ever refused, including in some of the others around Rittenhouse (but never specifically that one).

I don't blame the police, as they did their job according to the law. But if they were middle-aged white guys in suits doing the same thing, the manager would have never said a word to them.

Did you have to ask to use the bathroom? Did you need a code to get in? According to the story he asked to use the bathroom which is odd.

What is odd about asking to use the bathroom? You've never asked to use a bathroom in your whole life?

Only when I was a kid in class or something. Never at a bar, restaurant, or coffee shop. Lets stick to my original question please and not get defensive.

Yes you always need codes to get into the bathrooms of "fast-food" places in any city. I've asked for the code or simply just gone to stand in line to use it more times then I can remember without ever being told no.

Big cities are different from rural villages.

You could probably get away with taking a p.iss by the roadside where you live but in Philly it would be odd (and criminal).

Did you buy something when in there asking for the bathroom code?

Yes you have to use a code in that Starbucks, and they change the code every so often.

I've never sat there without paying for anything myself

I have seen them ask non-paying people to leave (in those cases the people were pretty clearly homeless). And they left
