Which is technically illegal. At first I thought only incredibly stupid people got caught, but apparently PA State Troopers installed a check-point right over the border from Delaware over Memorial Day Weekend!

You're probably less likely to get caught coming over from Jersey though.

East Falls and Mount Airy are just as bad.
As is typical of most posters in this type of thread, it is obvious that you haven't actually been to Chestnut Hill . . . or you must have been wearing a blindfold when you were there.

They probably don't know where Germantown/East Mt. Airy end and West Mt. Airy/Chestnut Hill begin.

DC and Boston are expensive and small. NY is a ripoff and has lost all its character that once made it the #1 city in the world. With the exception of places like Seattle, etc that leave Philly as the city of the future.

Philadelphia has a ton of office space and plenty of housing in the general metro area. This area could easily take in more companies and flourish in the future. The public transportation is pretty good, the beach and mountains are both within 2 hours. Although the economy isn't as strong as LA or NY, Philly as it stands now is a better place to be than 99% of the country, so I do not know why people say it sucks.
Well said and I agree completely. It seems some people are not made for urban living or just wouldn't be happy anywhere. Philly has it's problems like every city, but it's assets far outweigh them and the scale continues to shift in a more positive direction.

I know I wouldn't want to be living in any other US city at this point in time.

Yeah, but at least a local bank replaced it instead of a self-deemed "too big to fail" one. I'd rather a deli though.

I read that currently hearings are going on about getting rid on the archaeic liquor laws. any word on that? I had to spend 3 months filming in Utah ( which has the same laws) and it was a total nightmare. God, I hope they manage to overturn the ones in PA

I have traveled the country extensively as part of my career (name a city, basically), and my travels inspired me to *move* to Philly. Portland, Chicago, Atlanta, San Diego - all great towns. And I wouldn't compare Philly. But I've seen a lot of cities with great downtowns but no interesting little neighborhoods, and I've seen cities with interesting little neighborhoods but boring-as-**** downtowns. I've seen a lot of cities that are entirely constructed for the fascination of tourists, Disney-like. Philly does seem to "have it all" in ways that other cities only hope to emulate.

Totally agree. I just wish Market East was like a smaller version of Michigan Ave or Pacific Place in Seattle or Market St in SF (but without the horrible pan handlers). also Market west has way too many parking lots. should be a much larger business district. Ohhhh and a Roosevelt BLVD elevated line.... and a subway extension to the Navy yard... and reactivation of so many of the downed commuter rail lines like New Hope, Reading, Quakertown, West Chester, and Newtown.. oohhh ... and more rail to the shore. and umm... more stuff on market st past 30th street station.... and a park on top of the Vine St Expressway.... and a great waterfront like NY or Baltimore .... and trolleys,..... and i guess u get the idea.
