Can someone please explain to me layman's language the difference between "Newtown" PA and "Newtown Township" PA? I am still trying to understand what "township" means. Also, does anyone know of any "new" housing developments in those areas with houses in the $500K to $650K range? THANKS!!

Check out Pheasant Point, Eagleton Farms and Newtown Grant> They are all in Newtown township and in your price range. They are all about a mile from main street Newtown.

There is new construction by Toll Brothers in the borough. They are townhouses and they are in your price range.

I have lived in Newtown for the past 20 years. Newtown is a great place if you have kids with a great school district(Council Rock).

Roughly you can think of Newtown PA as a borough or town part.
Newtown Township think of as Rural area outside of the borough, but within the Town of Newtown, PA.

As a general rule, a borough is like a small town (think sidewalks, a downtown area, a Main Street, etc.)

A township is either a rural area (narrow, dark country roads with little traffic, few sidewalks, etc. - Springfield Township, Bucks County is a good example), a once-rural area that is now full of new housing and shopping (narrow, relatively dark country roads with too much traffic on them - Warrington Township, Bucks County is a good example), or an area that is fairly to fully developed but in a suburban sprawl manner as opposed to a town setting (wider roads, older developments, more commercial and industrial areas - Bensalem Township, Bucks County is a good example).

Newtown Borough is a quaint little town with a nice little Main Street area. Newtown Township is a once-rural area with new housing and shopping, but it's not over-developed or congested. I just checked the Borough's website posted above and the pictures provided do not do it any justice; it's a nice little area.
