A better example of the type of "Asian" supermarket where the OP would find familiar foods is Apna Bazar in Bensalem, in lower Bucks County. There are a number of businesses that cater to Indian-American tastes in this part of the township. I'm not sure whether anything like it exists on the Main Line at all - my initial suspicion is it doesn't.

To the OP: Glad you've found an area you feel comfortable with. I wouldn't have dismissed Upper Darby Township (whose schools Millbourne Borough* residents also attend) out of hand; while UD's schools don't top the lists of great schools in the region, they don't stink either, and the Upper Darby School District is one of the most diverse in the Philly 'burbs. The Drexel Hill section of the township is one of the most attractive affordable residential districts in the 'burbs as well.

*Millbourne Borough, or so I've heard, is the largest majority-Sikh municipality in the country.

One of the Asian supermarkets is Chinese owned, the other is Korean owned. They both have items for multiple nationalities. There are also some small grocery stores in the area that are aimed, specifically, for people from India. Most of the non-white population in Cherry Hill is Asian, but not specifically one nationality.

A good portion of the inner suburban ring has high property taxes, in some cases 4% of property values. Moving one town or borough over can have a large impact on affordability.

That is certainly the case in Upper Darby, and in parts of Jenkintown.

Upper Darby has a large Indian population that is not at all limited to just Sikhs. There are Indian businesses all over the surrounding area, and the district has a large Indian population to this day.

I'm also not sure how the Sikh population has decreased since the '90s when they only converted Worldwide Aquarium to a worship center less than a decade ago. Never let facts get in the way of a good story, right?

Much of Secane is Ridley Twp.

Ridley Twp. and SD. You cross from UD Twp. when you head west/southwest from the train station.
