Market Street is a very long street, so where on Market? If it's Center City, look in Cherry Hill, NJ. They have a sizable Indian population and it's a 20 minute train ride (running frequently) into Center City. Schools are good too.

Thank you FromGA for your valuable response. Yes this link is certainly helpful so let me spend some time over it. Based on the current info received, we are also inclined towards King of Prussia or nearby areas. Landsdale is still towards the farther side so thinking to limit ourselves maximum by KoP.
Other options we are exploring is towards New Jersey side where I heard there are lots of Indians. The search just begun so I am sure slowly we will get what we need. Thanks again for your help.

Much of what is in it is probably still correct. With older kids, it is unlikely you will easily find a situation where you can live close to work and send kids to public school (for anybody, not just because you are from India). Learn about regional rail:

Learn about the Lansdale line.
Your best bet will be to live somewhere between Philly and Lansdale, on that line. There are many good school districts with access to the train stations on that line. Lansdale will probably have the higher Asian percentage, but you will do alright in many of the other school districts. Good luck!

Thanks for your response NewtownBucks but looks like it would be too much of commute & I would prefer not to spend too much time on it. Therefore, looking for areas where there is a direct SEPTA or Shuttle services to 24th St. (Market St.). Please let me know if you have any other suggestions. Thanks again!

Thx for your response newmarlig. Its S 24th St. and I am not sure how far it is from Center City. Please advise if Cherry Hill is still an option or there are better options in Philly. We are liking Ardmore based on our initial research and based on distance from office, schools and vicinity from SEPTA.

Not knowing the exact address I can't be sure. It depends on how far south it is. The final stop of the high speedline is 16th and Locust, and you would would have to walk from there. You could also get off at 8th and Market and take the 17th bus which goes south down 19th Street. So, it's doable, but not ideal.

Ardmore and Cherry Hill are both very nice places to live. I think there is probably a bigger Indian community in Cherry Hill, but I'm not really all that familiar with that. As far a public transportation goes, 24th St & Market is a little inconvenient for public transportation. Both the regional rails and the Market-Frankford line stop at 15th & Market (Suburban Station on regional rail) and 30th St Station, and 24th is kind of right in between. Patco (train you'd take from Cherry Hill) ends at 15th & Locust, so that is another 3 or 4 blocks south of Suburban Station as well.

KOP is a desirable area but finding an apartment for family of 4 there at $1000-16000 won't be easy. Or in Ardmore for that matter. Generally, the farther out the lower the cost. Lansdale is pretty far out but you will probably find more options in your budget there.

KOP doesn't have a train station, either, so you have to first drive to either Norristown or Wayne to get the train.

I think your options, in the order I would consider, are:
- Take PATCO train from Cherry Hill (it might be the most convenient)
- Take regional rail train from Lansdale (closer stations on the same route are: Glenside (Abington High School), Ft Washington (Upper Dublin High School), Ambler (Wissahickon High School). All these schools are good, the Asian percentage will be lower.
- Figure out how to come from KoP. There may be ways to take a train but it probably will not be that convenient.
SCHOOL STARTS LAST WEEK OF AUGUST, I would move to the US sooner rather than later.

University City right around 40th and Market Streets has a large Indian community. Milbourne inbetween Upper Darby and the western part of Philadelphia has a huge Indian community. Schools should be OK in those neighborhoods.
