NY is not that far from Philly and I know for a fact that NY does not have a problem with Interracial dating. NY is a great melting pot of people. I have been to Philly many many times over the past 20 years and have not seen as many interracial couples. From those of you who live in Philly or are in interracial relationships what is the pulse in Philly?

Though it is close to NY it is still a much different vibe.
People care about this stuff? You’re in your late ‘40s-50ish, I saw your other post, and still concerned about this?

Are you worried that you’re going to be physically assaulted or harassed on the streets, or in your home? That someone will say something “mean?” That you’ll lose your job?

People from all walks make negative comments on the streets to other people for many reasons: race, gender, looks etc. it’s called life and dealing with jerks that have personal issues.

Why do you care what people think? Or, that you think they care; most people aren’t thinking much about it, it isn’t 1966.

Do you think you’re perception of fewer interracial couples is due to Philly culture? Kinda tired of hearing about how advanced DC and NY are about every topic. So every person in DC and NY allegedly has no problem at all with interracial couples as opposed to Philly where it’s perhaps more taboo.

Interesting that people seeking diversity cling to certain generalizations.

So, do you and your other-race partner ever travel, even to other parts of enlightened and woke Maryland? Must be constant weight to limit yourself to DC/Maryland and NY where no one ever thinks about such things, at least you assume so.

Well, you think "lol", but I do have a (reasonably) good idea. I get around when I can and am pretty open to different modes of communication, events, and locations. I have personal experience and live in the general area as I mentioned before. Maybe I'm not right or only right for people in my circumstances, etc., or at least according to you, but to say or imply that I wouldn't have an idea is just incorrect.

Comute18, after some more thought, I'd say that I sense people in Philly have a tendency to be totally okay with other people interacially dating, but that that person might not be okay with interracial dating himself/herself or may be too biased for only specific races.

If I were OP, my takeaway from this thread would be that people in Philly don't have a particular problem with interracial dating, but rather just bltch at each other incessantly regardless of race, color, creed, or orientation. LOL.
