Basically I currently have a home in ridley pa Delaware county. Married with one son in preschool. I work in Delaware county too. I’d like to move but honestly just don’t know where. I love media but it’s basically out of my range. I’d prefer not to spend more than 300 but can go to 350. Main things I’m looking for are schools , safe area and neighborhood feel. What areas will have this for next 20 years? Areas I’ve considered are media, broomall, west Chester. But just not sure. Thoughts ?

When are you moving? In next year
Where are you coming from? Ridley PA
Why are you moving? Would like better school and area
Where will you be working? Delaware County
Have you been here yet? Yes entire life

Will you buy or rent? Buy
If buying, are you looking for a house or a condo? How much can you spend? 300 preferably but can go to 350
If renting, are you looking for an apartment, a townhouse or loft? How much can you spend?
Do you prefer hi-rise or walk up?

Do you have a preference of living in a NJ or PA suburb? Anything really
(If you answered NJ - post your answers here: http://www.city-data.com/forum/new-j...-philadelphia/)

Are you married or single? Do you have children? 1 as of now
Do you prefer public or private schools? Public
Do you have pets? Dog
Do you want or need a yard? Prefer one yes
Are you keeping a car? Yes
Do you prefer bustling activity or calm and quiet?

What do you want to be closest to?
Work
Shopping
Basic services (supermarket, drugstore, etc.)
Nightlife
Train or subway stations

Do you want to live with people of a similar age, race, religion or sexual preference or do you prefer a diverse neighborhood?

Favorite Beverage - Craft Beer, wine, water?

If you are in Ridley you should know about Primos and Secane. Those may have what you are looking for.
Maybe look at Springfield(DelCo) or Havertown.

Just out of curiosity, why don't you want to stay in Ridley? I work nearby and pass through the area sometimes, and from what I can tell it seems like a decent neighborhood with perfectly ok schools.

I love ridley. Grew up around here. I have concerns about future of ridley though. School district has been on slow decline and areas around ridley are closing in. The area has great people though however a lot are slowly leaving. I’m looking for the ridley vibe but a bit better

Have you considered Havertown? You could get a house there with at least three bedrooms in your price range, maybe even four. Good public schools- (The elementary schools are great, middle and high schools are good). Havertown has a good, kind of tight knit community feel to it. Also there is a big YMCA which is great for families.
