Default Mummer's parade - info requested!

Hi everyone...

We are hoping to go to the Mummer's Parade on N Y's Day. We are about a 1.5 hour drive. The thing is, where to park? are there shuttles or buses that we could catch to get to the parade route... and where do we watch the parade from? I have tried looking this stuff up online but haven't found anything useful.

I imagine it is total mayhem traffic and crowd-wise, so what do we do to escape some of this?

any replies greatly appreciated!

If you don't mind a mile walk downtown. My secret spot is the area behind the art museum, there is a free parking lot there if you are lucky enough to find a spot, if not go across Kelly Drive and park along Fairmount park. Its a very nice 15 minute walk to downtown.

If that doesn't work the Philadelphia Parking website will tell you where the garages and lots are located in center city.

The weather is supposed to be lousy so the crowds may be down this year.

Thanks very much for that info... both the "secret" parking, and the parking website. I wouldn't have known to look there.

That's too bad about the lousy weather... I didn't hear that yet - I thought it might be nice as it has been so warm the last few days. As we have two small kids that will definitely be a factor.
