Overall it is a good residential neighborhood that is convenient to the stadiums. The only area that gets a little rough is around 7th and Wolf that has issues with drug dealing. Other than that it is a fine area with some great restaurants and near the stadiums.

4 shootings in this neighborhood. Per Philly's (extremely low) standards, this is a safe neighborhood.

I would pick the Witherspoon personally. Philadelphia's "Center City" is akin to London's "City of London". It's the original few square miles of the city where a lot of the history happened.

It depends on what you’re looking for. The Whitman neighborhood is residential so if you’re just here to go to the game then it is fine for that but if you want to experience Center City then the Witherspoon is right in the middle of everything.
