I'm over 50 and still like discussing it. For better or worse, cheeseteaks and its connection to Philadelphia are still a nationwide phenomenon. As an example, Angelo's has popped up in the last couple years and is in contention of being the best so maybe everything hasn't been said. Some vaunted places have slipped in quality while others rise. It's all very timely and relevant.

At least one of the higher-end restaurants in the city has offered gourmet cheesesteaks with premium steak and cheese. Although cheesesteaks are almost street food, I'd be interested to try any elevations that are respectful to the original.

The most well-known one is Barclay Prime's Wagyu cheesesteak. $120, comes with wagyu ribeye, foie gras, onions, truffled cheese whiz on a fresh baked sesame roll served with a half bottle of champagne.

There's also a number of regular sandwich shops, like Dolores 2Street, that sell up scaled versions.

Thumbs up to Cleavers for having table service and beer. Their steaks are decent as well, though not as good as some of the others mentioned.

Sonny's is my go-to for steaks. But the buffalo chicken at Cleavers is NUTS.

Pat's and Geno's are tourist traps or good if you are drunk at 3 AM. I'm not a cheesesteak fan, but usually want one about once a year. My favorite places are Cleavers or neighborhood pizza shops.

Now officially called "Tony and Nick's". Great roast pork as well.
