Personally, I got no time for haters.

We're not Detroit or Cleveland (or Houston or Atlanta). We have a booming downtown population that's the 3rd biggest in the country. We have cultural attractions that are matched only by a handful of other american cities. I'm not begging anyone to move here. It takes heart to live here. Plenty of people have what it takes to live here but if you don't you won't last.

If you visit here or live here and only see a sh*thole that might be because you're superficial or lazy or both. It's your loss all around and we're better off for not having you.
-well said, we have a rich culture only matched by the oldest and most storied cities in this country

One of the last good places to live in philly is the roxborough/manayunk area. I grew up in Northeast Philly (Holmesburg) and when I go down there now it's unbelievable how the neighborhood went downhill. Thank god we left philly back in 88' or else we would've never gotten what we did for our house. Trust me the future is not in philly! I now live in upstate PA and let me tell you how many people from philly live up here. Basically leigh valley and wilkes-barre/scranton area is the northeast philly of the 70's and 80's. So many people from philly live up here and they love it. Housing is affordable here too. I see some of these homes in philly going for well over $250K with no driveway, no backyard, and in a small neighborhood, forget that!

Good post and I'm glad I got out of upstate PA when I did before all the 'city folk' started coming
