Default Wyomissing or Wilson SD

We are thinking of moving into the area and here the schools are great in the Wyomissing and Wilson school district. Is one better than the other and why?
Thank you for your time.

This might be a better question to ask in the general Pennsylvania forum. Wyomissing and the rest of the Reading metro are pretty far removed from Philly.

Default Wilson Schools are excellent

We actually currently live in the Wilson School District and we are headed to a new house in a different town. I actually am torn between the schools performance rating and the benefit of a new home. Obviously I will follow through with my move to my new home anyhow and follow through with the sale of my house.

Know that Wilson Schools are ranked extremely high in the area of academics, athletics and extra-curricular activities throughouts. You will not find a better school in the immediate area. People actually migrate to the area for this reason alone.

We have been looking at homes in the Wilson sd, torn between some and they are zoned for different Elementary schools... right now looking at either Green Valley Elementary or Shiloh Hills, any thoughts, suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
I have spent many hours comparing stats,etc.. and just like to hear from people who live or have lived in this area.

Thanks so much!

Again, just as with the original poster, I would suggest also posting your question in the general Pennsylvania forum as Wyomissing is removed from what is normally considered to be the Philly metro.

I used to live in Wilson SD but my mailing address was Wyomissing. So Wyomissing schools are somewhat better academically and smaller, but Wilson schools are also excellent academically and bigger with a lot more to offer in terms of athletics, arts...you know all the extras. I think you can't go wrong either way...unless you are grooming an athlete then you should go Wilson. As for the elementary schools I don't know much about them specifically but my guess would be that based on area demographics (home prices of subdivisions) I would guess Green Valley might be a bit better.

Sounds like you are on track. My only secondary thought is taxes. Wilson SD and Spring Township taxes are very desirable. If you are ever interested in how a community comes together and the all together comradery I suggest you go to a Wilson football game on a Friday night when they play at home. I know it sounds stupid, but it a great glimpse of the ethics tought to the students, a great way to observe the surrounding students and the involvement in activities. It is truly amazing how Wilson stands in this area. If you are ever interested in chatting more about this please shoot me an email at Moderator Cut: Publishing e-mail addresses is not recommended.

Thanks,
G
