Black Women & Men who ADMIRE Her (Inter-racial Dating)
Dear Open Minded,
I recently re-located from San Francisco to Philly, although I am a native New Yorker and attended under-grad in Philly. For those of you who have visited San Fran, you know that it is a very liberal city; including the dating scene. To get to my point, there is an abundance of inter-racial dating on that coast, HOWEVER, the inter-racial couple rarely consists of a black woman & another race man. Varying data states that out of the inter-racial marriage population, less than 15% consists of a "minority wife". Now, I am an open minded individual and would like to explore all my options. SO..I want to host a sophisticated, classy, yet fun & social event...called "Black Women & her Admirers". The title is self expanitory, the event would cater to black women and the men of all races that admirer her.
*How do you think Philly would recieve such an event?
*Are black women in this community open to this? (I know this is a general question but...)
*How do you think the men would respond?
*Where could I market (areas, scenes) this idea?
*Would you attend?
I would love your feedback...

I'm a man who has never been involved in the dating scene; therefore my opinion might be a bit different, but I am sure there would be at least some interest in an event such as this. Would black women be open to this? Many would, many would not. Men would definitely be interested.

Politics should have nothing to do with race. But, Philly would welcome this event. Jim Gardner may even cover it on Action News. Monica Malpass could also be on hand.

I would suggest changing the name of the event to either "The Black Woman and Her Admirers" or "Black Women and Their Admirers," otherwise the grammatical error is going to make an immediate bad impression.

I think it's an interesting idea but being neither black nor single, it's not something on my radar screen. I agree that the title is quite awkward sounding.

You need to retitle it. Sounds like an ad for fetishists and I'm pretty sure that ain't what your going for. And I'm not sure black women in the NE really want white men - they just want black men to clean up their act!

I agree 100% on changing the name. I think that it is a great idea. I think that the men would come out for sure but I don't know about the women. Being a black woman myself, I think that some sista's are apprehensive about dating outside of their race b/c of the reaction from family, friends and public in general. If they could get past that inital reaction, then I think that most would be fine. If I was not in a relationship, I would attend.

As far as marketing, I would think that the Old City area would be great b/c people of all races frequent that neighborhood.
