There s a walmart & target in Exton which is the town next to WC. They are both on the same highway, however, a few miles apart. From downtown westchester I think it is about 5-7 miles.

There is also a new Target in Concordville/Garnet Valley.

Chester Springs is growing so fast they are building another second Target less than a mile away from the original.

Those places seems to be closer than West Chester, although I've heard so many good things about West Chester. What about collegeville? Are the schools good here? I'm looking for a safe, family oriended place to live and a Trader Joe's would be GREAT!

Thanks!
Schools in collegeville are excellent, especially the Methacton district but Perk Valley is great too. Upper Providence/ Spring-Ford schools are good too, but you're getting a little further from Plymouth Meeting then, although not that bad. The closest Trader Joes to Collegeville is in Valley Forge/King of Prussia at the Gateway shopping center on 202...it's close enough that I shopped there frequently!

How far is the place from Philly itself. It seems like a little ways out. Do the Regional Rails go out there?

I heard it's charming town though, nice downtown.

Yes the amtrak lines run all the way from the city out to paoli, exton, downingtown along the route 30 corridor. You'd have to take a bus to the Borough itself. Only rail line we have is a restored amtrak line that is now a private business. they do holiday tours and stuff like that on the train. Bus is easiest way from Philly to WC Boro.
