College suggestions. Where should I go?
I'm flirting with the idea of going to school in Philadelphia. I was there briefly this past Memorial Day visiting my little brother in NJ, but didn't get anytime to explore the city.
Still, I've been reading on here and I'm kind of taken with the place. I'm just looking for schools in Philadelphia (possibly for Law) that are close to public transportation. I don't have a car now and don't really want to have to deal with it. I'd also like to know some cool areas to live for a possible full time student. I've heard Philadelphia has it's rough parts but I'm not really worried. I'm kind of used to it.
Thanks for the help!

Assuming you're not a candidate for Penn, look into neighboring Drexel (business or law), just be warned Drexel has a concrete campus, rated one of the ugliest in America - not kidding.

There is an Amtrak/Septa stop at Villanova University which is very convenient to their law school. Temple and Penn are also easily accessible but are in urmban environments. It depends what you are looking for.

I had friends at St. Joseph's who loved it. I don't know much about any sort of pre-law or law program, though. Temple, Penn, and Drexel all have good reputations as well.

The more urban the better. I prefer it. Also how easy is it to live in Philadelphia without a car? I imagine it's fairly easy.

Don't lose sight that you have to get a job and earn money after you graduate. I think a Penn, Drexel or Villanova law degree would hold more cachet than Temple, St. Joe's, Weidner, etc....For undergrad, it wouldn't really matter where you went...

Depends on where you are. If you're by Penn, Drexel, or even Temple it might actually be harder to have a car, since parking is limited and it's pretty easy just to walk or take public transportation. Around St. Joe's it wouldn't be too hard either, most people I knew there didn't drive, and if they really had to they had friends with cars. Philly's a pretty walkable city in general.

US News this week ranked Temple Law higher than Villanova, and there are significant savings if you are a PA resident. Drexel wasn't listed and Penn was top 10.

I'm not from PA so I wouldn't be eligible for any in-state savings. I'm just in the very early stages of looking at schools in the area as part of an overall plan for the next few years. I want to get out of where I'm at for a while and since my brother and his family live in NJ I'd like to be close to them but I did not care for Jersey at all when I was there.
