Hi, we are moving to the area in about 6 months and I am looking for some information on Perkasie, PA. As far as how family friendly the area is, what there is in the way of grocery stores, stores, How good the schools are in the area, and we have a townhome picked out called Heritage at Orchard Hill, has anyone heard anything about this place??
If I could get any info AT ALL on the area, that would be wonderful. Also.."Commuting" will be new to us, DH will be working in Philly, so do most people ride the train into work or do they drive? Sorry I am a country girl, not very knowledgeable when it comes to "BIG CITY LIVING" lol.
DH is an accountant, and I am a nurse. If that makes a difference.
Thanks a bunch!
Nicole

Perkasie is a very nice small town. Friendly, good schools, plenty of shopping. Commuting to Philly is a nightmare. Whether he drives or rides depends on his situation. Parking in Philly is a big issue. There are many good medical facilities near Perkasie so you should have no problem with finding a good job. I have lived in many locations and I find the best neighbors were in PA and south NJ. The food of the area, (lancaster county, Philadelphia), is the best in the world.

Perkasie is a very suburban farm like community. You will like it. I actually enjoy passing through the area on the way to Philly whenever I go there. The Philadelphia transportation does'nt actually start for another 10-15 miles down the rd. You are smack dab in the middle between Philadelphia and Allentown-Lehigh Valley. Your husband will have to drive to Colmar or Montgomeryville to get the Septa train.

Wow this may be a town we would consider....we want to be in the middle of lehigh and philli....

How are the schools in perkasie? Is major shopping nearby? What do you think the morning commute would be going (travel time) to bethlehem?

Also mentioned that its a farming community..but seems like there is "everything nearby"....is rather liberal minded? We are south asian..and it seems like there is a nice decent community down in PA.

In my opinion, Perkasie is not in the middle of Lehigh and Philadelphia suburbs, it's kind of on the outskirts of both. It's not in Lehigh County. Nice area but wouldn't it be a pretty good hike to Philadelphia on a daily basis?
