How about the drive from the Main Line cities to Penn? Can you give me an idea of how long that would take without traffic and in rush hour?

How do they afford these "fancy cars?" I'm working nearly full-time earning $11/hr. while attending college full-time, and yet my 1999 Ford is dwarfed by the higher-end vehicles of my NY/NJ peers here in Wilkes-Barre who do not work (and also end up with higher GPAs from having more free time to study!) Do they bend over and defecate $100 bills? It really irritates me that no matter how hard I try I can't "keep up" with everyone else. I don't have an iPhone, Garmin, Lexus SUV, Armani Exchange wardrobe, etc., and neither do my parents, who earn about $80,000 annually and are considered "upper-class" by our area's standards. What are we doing wrong that so many others who earn so much less are doing right? I really only have about $5,000 in assets to my name right now with $20,000 in student loan debt! How do my peers drive such nice vehicles? I want to ask them their "secret," but I feel that would be too intrusive. I most certainly am not going to attract any guys to me by cruising the boulevard in a rusting Ford!

In all reality those kids probably have parents who are earning 2-3x what your parents do and, on top of that, they're leveraged to the hilt.

I don't envy them at all.

The main line towns stretch out for 20 miles (depending on who you ask) so it really depends. You could be 20 minutes from Penn in rush hour or you could be over an hour.

A more reliable measure is the R5. The train from Merion to 30th St. Station is 12 minutes. From Paoli to 30th St. is 42 minutes.

My parents gave me a $60,000 Audi. No secret here...

Sorry - not very specific. I was thinking of Ardmore / Haverford area. Can you give me an idea of how long that drive would be? Thanks

Probably around a half hour. Everything depends on traffic.

Depends where in Haverford and Ardmore (off of Haverford Road? closer to Lancaster Avenue? North Side?) but generally 20-30 minute drive on secondary roads.
