You're splitting hairs here...whether it's 100 or even 1 it's still too many.

Splitting hairs?

So you're saying that living in Langhorne and living in Bristol are basically the same and Norristown is more or less the same as Upper Merion. So living in University City is more less the same as living in West Kensington.

I think that quality of life varies drastically from neighborhood to neighborhood. I think most people agree with me. It's why it costs more to live in certain neighborhoods and less to live elsewhere.

No I did not. I did a Google search and that's the year that came up first. Do you really think the difference in years matter with the magnitude of violent crime that happens in North and West Philly?

"I have friends at 5th & Poplar and at 6th & Girard. I'm in Northern Liberties all the time. As recently as two years ago you'd find me at Silk City on a Saturday at 3 in the morning - or maybe over at RUBA. I've certainly shut down the 700 Club more than a few times. I know what the neighborhood is like late-night and it's certainly far less sketchy than my own neighborhood. The neighborhood has clocked 3 murders in 5 years . . . and all of them seem to have revolved around fights at nightclubs on Girard or on Delaware Ave - clubs that are now gone."

3 murders in the last 5 years?! Where do you get your data from? I can count 5 murders in the last year and a half. Like I said not every crime in NoLibs get reported. You say you've been in Northern LIberties for the past, what 2 years? I've lived in Northern Liberties for 22 years.

If you have friends who are getting shot at in NoLibs it might help to explain your perceptions of the neighborhood.

"Check out Northernliberties.org, neighbors who live in the area report shootings almost daily on that board. And the reality is, there ARE shootings regularly in and around the neighborhood, mostly on the West side of the neighborhood closer to the projects.

"AFA "yuppies" being relentlessly robbed in the neighborhood . . . in the last 3 months there have been two robberies within the NoLibs boundaries. One of those two was with a weapon and that was at 4th & Spring Garden, on the fringe of the neighborhood in an office/warehouse district where no one lives, at 2 in the morning. So yeah, i'm not exactly shaking in my boots when it's time to head home from North Bowl."

What about the rape that happened recently? And like I said robberies are constantly happening in Northern Liberties, whether you've heard of them or not. The reality is that its happening, whether you decide to turn a blind eye to it or not is your business.

What about the Italian guy who was murdered at his front door when two guys pretended to be pizza guys pumped him full of lead? Was that because of an altercation from a club?

What about the young man who was gunned down outside the barber shop on 4th street? Was that from some a fight from a club letout?

The guy on 9th & Girard who was gunned down. 7th & Girard a guy standing outside the bar caught a face full of mac10 bullets. Patrick Spenser was gunned down across the street from Bodine High School for International Affairs. A man on 5th & Brown street was shot 4 times as he was leaving out of his house. A man was murdered, shot to death on the small street close to the Girard Ave stop on the El. These all happened within the last 2 years, so tell me again that its completely safe here.

There were no murders in Northern Liberties this year or last. I get my data from the PPD - how about you? Murders don't get reported? Are you kidding me?

Haha - there's one post on there from someone who thought they heard gunshots but, according to other posters it was probably just fireworks.
Anyway, I think you're confused about where Northern Liberties is.

So you're saying that rapes in NoLibs happen all the time and go unreported? Or it happened once and it made headlines? The reality is that you're saying that there is a lot of crime but you can't back it up with actual facts.

You responded to a poster living in University City with the claim that his neighborhood has as much crime as it did when you were there 15? 20 years ago?

It's not true.

Case closed.

I was still in the Philly area until four years ago and had an office down at Penn that I went to regularly. I know what West Philly is like and its still as dangerous as it was a few years ago. One year of decrease in murder doesn't make it "safer".

Actually I'm giving you facts based off of living here, while you are giving me something based off of reported statistics from the PPD?! One of the MAIN problems of the neighborhood is that the 26th and the 6th District DO NOT respond or report a lot of the crimes that do happen here.

You are the type of person that would believe GW Bush giving you the statistics of safety in Iraq versus the reality of someone living there.

And also... Bridgman's View Tower - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

That links hows that there is a proposed skyscraper that will be going up in NoLibs.
