And Police helicopters dont get dispatched to check out fireworks. Im not saying that NoLibs is as dangerous as North Central, far from it! But it is dangerous to those unsuspecting fools who just move in, and read some crime data off the internet.

The Italian guy who was murdered at his front door? That happened last year. Just one example of your data failing you.

Here is a post from someone who complains about crime not being reported. The same situation happens in areas where they do not want negative press...
"I worked in Atlantic city for 10 years! What most people do not know is the level of crime that occurs in a casino! It is unfathomable and here is the twist, it never gets in the papers. The 10 years I worked at the casino, 4 co-workers were murdered. and there were times when people were murdered in hospitality suites and it never made the news. It is really scary. The Gallery is scary now, and it is so easy to dissapear in that place, the trains, and buses and taxis are just steps away. I can't imagine the level of crime that will occur in that area it is already seedy. And the criminals will vanish into thin air, just like AC"

Actually I'm giving you facts based off of living here, while you are giving me something based off of reported statistics from the PPD?! One of the MAIN problems of the neighborhood is that the 26th and the 6th District DO NOT respond or report a lot of the crimes that do happen here.
|
Facts are verifiable. You're telling me to believe you because you say so. Saying it doesn't make it a fact.

what? helicpoters come out anytime there's a pursuit and a chopper available . . . it's a city of 1.5 million how do you know the two have anything to do with each other.
You're saying that people should take rumor and innuendo - hearsay - as gospel. Thanks but no thanks.

Italian guys in Northern Liberties? If you say so. Where was it? When did it happen? What were the circumstances?

First, what does hearsay about casino crime in Atlantic City have to do with Northern Liberties? Second, if the PPD wasn't going to report murders then why would the numbers rise and fall? If they were going to fake it why wouldn't they make themselves look good?
Here's what it comes down to, while kids in the projects or in West Kensington or New Kensignton (or whatever they're calling it these days) might be squeezing off a few from time to time it doesn't mean that it's happening in Northern Liberties. My friends live in the "rough part" of NoLibs and they have no reason to lie to me about whether or not they hear gunshots at night.

You can split hairs all you want and point to the crime in Mantua, Haddington, Carrol Park, etc. but West Philly as a whole is safer than it was 4 years ago.
But the poster doesn't live in any of those places and crime in U. City is not much of an issue . . . you were just being snarky and the facts don't support your snarkiness so now you want to drag it out.
Show me your stats or stay in Colorado.

Stats? Please. You are more likely to experience crime in West Philly close to U. City than in many other areas of or near Philly.
I will stay in CO, its beautiful, but I still own property in the Philly area so do have to come back from time to time. I was dowtown a few weeks ago and felt a vibrance in Center City that I hadn't felt before. The new Comcast building is impressive!
Anyway, not be snarky, just realistic.

I lived there day to day for 40 years until a few years ago and the fact that I still have property in the area makes me uniquely qualified to comment on my home town. Why are you stuck in PA. Don't like it?
You don't like my posts, don't read 'em! And people say Philadelphians are unfriendly.

I didn't say I didn't like them,I was merely commenting....
although not living here for how long still does not completely qualify you as an expert on what's going on NOW. Sure you may have a place here but how long are your visits? It's like the equivalent of going on vacation somewhere and claiming to know the same about the area.
Heck I visit my hometown back in NJ pretty often and still can't keep up with all the changes there.

True, day to day, yes I don't live there. But I can still get WIP and WPHT streaming and all my relatives are there so......
But your right, my finger is not on the pulse like it once was. Touche. That's why I asked the question about crime in the first place. It seems its pretty much the same or hopefully a little better.
