But your right, my finger is not on the pulse like it once was. Touche. That's why I asked the question about crime in the first place. It seems its pretty much the same or hopefully a little better.

You want verifiable facts?
Safer City Map - A Safer City News Story - WCAU | Philadelphia
Check that map out. There hasn't been anyone killed in Northern Liberties in the past 2 years?! That map shows 3 people murdered in the neighborhood just last year. Further proof that your "sources" are as dumb as your logic.

Yeah, like I said earlier, you don't know where Northern Liberties is.

Whatever. I can read the news. The crime is still happening in exactly the places its been happening since my Dad had to pay a quarter to a guy to watch our car at Connie Mack stadium.

Latest Example
Well here's another example of what goes on on a smaller scale all the time here in the city-
Tonite my stepson had to witness his best friend get taken down and his nose broken by yet another gang of thugs that are so prevalent in 'south philly'...yet my wife is always talking about how she hates it here in northeast philly and wishes she was back in south philly
This is what I mean by the blind pride people have here,no matter what else happens they've just got to stay in those neighborhoods!

i'm sure it's been said a million times here already, but you're pretty safe walking around in philly if you're smart. Don't go into the bad neighborhoods alone. If you're carrying a gun or a weapon, people are going to be more suspicions of you.
I have a few friends who have been mugged. A lot of people make sure to only carry a small amount of money on them, and a lot of women have a "mugger's wallet" with like $10 in it, that they give out if they get mugged.
Also, robbery is pretty common. I know plenty of people who've had someone break into their place and steal stuff (we had our Playstation 2 stolen). So make sure to lock your doors and windows when you're not there... including deadbolts! (my roommate was actually home when we got robbed, just in another room with the music blasting)
If you park your car/bike on the streets downtime overnight, someone will try to steal it. If you leave your doors unlocked, someone is bound to open the door and go through your stuff looking for money, or stuff for identity theft.
Despite all I've said, it's not a bad place, you just need to be safe. Don't carry large amounts of money, don't dress like you're super rich, do not have anything in your car within sight from the windows. It's best to keep your car completely clean, and keep your stuff in the car's trunk. Most cars have trunks that lock.
Unless you're involved with drugs and gangs, nobody's going to come out and murder you. Don't hang out in areas at night with high gang / drug activity, cause you don't really want to get caught up in a fight.
The most important think I've learned about philly is that the neighbors really do look out for each other. A couple weeks ago, we had a bad storm, and one of my grandmother's storm windows broke in the wind. I went out the next morning to clean up the glass, and was confronted by 2 of her neighbors, asking who I was, and what I was doing. I was very happy that people were watching, and noticed something weird going on.

What? People that legally carry guns, carry them concealed, so nobody knows. I doubt you'll ever see a law abiding person with a gun strapped to their leg in Philly or any big city and the gangbangers carry them concealed also, but they can't get a permit because they have criminal records. Being criminals they just carry illegally.

With all that said then wtf's the point of being here if you gotta live every day of your life like that?
I don't know about you all but I don't want to live like I'm in an episode of CSI...if there's any life out there left to live I want to live it...peacefully!

No one is legally allowed to carry within city limits(except for law enforcement of course),so otherwise they will just have to carry illegally...which I kind of support if the right people are doing it. Kind of like they do out west but illegally unfortunately.
