Hi,
can anyone tell me where the top class people live in Philadelphia? What is the best, safest area to live? What is the up and coming next booming (safe) area? Thanks |

To answer your question, the wealthy neighborhoods are Society Hill, Rittenhouse Square and neighboring Fitler Square as well as Chestnut Hill. Home prices in any of the neighborhoods that border those places are also nothing to sneeze at.
At first I thought it was just people obsessed with the hype about Philly asking all these questions about "what are the safe neighborhoods?" But after reading some of the other posts in the other local forums it's everywhere. People moving to posh suburbs of San Francisco are asking "is it safe?" I'm almost sorry I was critical of "Bowling for Columbine." Michael Moore was right. Americans are paranoid . . . or at least completely out of touch with the nature of crime. Or maybe it's just that the anti-social nature of living in the suburbs makes you that much more distrustful of other people. |

Sign of the times dude. The same reason I wouldn't ride Patco after 11pm any night of the week. It is what it is. Clean up and take out the trash then Americans will be less paranoid. As for burbs, take a look at the Bloods, Crips in various areas across the country.

Annual deaths by homicide = 17,000 (half of which are perpetrated by "friends" or family) Annual deaths by auto = 42,000 I'll take my chances on the Speedline, thanks. |

City proper or metro area? If burbs are included, these two are the tops in Median housing prices. Older data, (2002) but still indicative.

Common sense. ha! The weasel word of all weasel words. When was the last time someone was killed or injured on the Speedline? When was the last time someone was killed or injured on Route 38? |
