Land by Yardley PA?
Our daughter and fiance may be moving to the Yardley area and are trying to encourage us to move closer to them. I'm not familiar with the area at all. Is there any area within 50 miles or so where you could get 1-2 acres of land for $40K or under? We would be looking to build in the next few years, not sure if land is even available in our price range. We know there is in NEPA, but not sure of this area. We are looking to be in the country.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

In Yardley area, or Bucks County in general? Not very likely.

For undeveloped land, you need to look in Central Bucks County (though it's mostly developed or preserved space), or Northern Bucks. Yardley is in extreme lower Bucks County, and the most you will get is a very small lot, but I don't think you can do it for 40 grand. I just checked Realtor.com:
There is a small lot in Middletown Twp, about 3-5 miles from Yardley, 0.4 acres, for $59,900.
There is 0.55 acres in Langhorne (next to Yardley) for $135,000.
There's a lot in Jamison (central Bucks, about 25-30 minutes from Yardley) 1.04 acres for $150,000.
You can still get pieces of land in NE PA, like the Pocono area, for cheaper. It'll just be about an hour or two to your daughter's house.

Bucks County has lots of open area preservation going on, it's really hard to find a 1 acre+ undeveloped lot that will let you build on it. You might have some luck in Hunterdon county or South Jersey. Also, if you go west to Chester County, or even Northern Montgomery. I know there are some big lots being divided up in Northampton County along rt 412. But 2 acres is a lot for only $40k.

OK, thanks everyone, appreciate the feedback. Looks like we'll stay with the original plan...... NEPA it stays then.
